Are you curious about membership?  We certainly hope so!  Since the church was established by and belongs to Christ, one does not "join" it in the same way one joins a man-made denomination or social organization.  Instead, the Lord adds those whom He has saved to His church. (Acts 2:47)
How, you may ask is one saved?   We have many examples in the book of Acts, in chapters 2, 8, 9, 10, 16 and 18, showing us how actual, historical persons obtained pardon from their sins and became members of the Lord's church.
You will find that there are several steps in the salvation process.  Not every step is specifically mentioned in every example, because not all of these people were at the same "milepost" along the road to salvation.  However, when you put the accounts together, you will see that they all did the same things:
  • They heard the gospel (Romans 10:14, 17).
  • They believed that Jesus is the Son of God, Christ, Lord and Savior (Acts 16:31).
  • They repented of their sins (Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19).
  • They confessed their faith in Jesus (Romans 10:9-10).
  • The were baptized (immersed) in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, 1 Peter 3:21-22).
